In conjunction with Geographe Marine Research we offer to you a unique and exclusive adventure with our once-off Geo Marine Life Survey Expedition. This special event, departing on the 17th of August, offers a rare opportunity to explore the marine biodiversity of the continental shelf in the Naturaliste region/Geographe Bay area.

This survey aims to establish crucial baseline data on the distribution, abundance, and habitat utilization of marine mammals, seabirds, and other species, while also assessing environmental dynamics.

Expedition Highlights:

• Marine Mammal Encounters: Our expert team will be on the lookout for a variety of marine mammals, which could include humpback whales, southern right whales, orcas, dolphins, porpoises and more. While sightings are not guaranteed, the thrill of the search and the discovery of the unknown will make each encounter more special.


• Bird Watching: In addition to marine mammals, we will also keep an eye out for various seabird species, offering a comprehensive wildlife experience.


• Citizen Science: Participate in a real scientific survey! Our project aims to gather crucial data on the distribution, abundance, and habitat use of marine animals. You'll work alongside professional researchers, contributing to valuable scientific research.


• State-of-the-Art Equipment: We will be utilising professional cameras, drones for aerial footage, GoPro cameras for underwater filming, and GPS loggers to record sightings.

Itinerary:

• Departure: We set sail early at 8am, with a planned survey speed of 10 knots.


• Data Collection: Support to monitor and help document /data collection.


• Onboard Amenities: Enjoy tea, coffee, water, and biscuits provided by the charterer (please bring your own lunch).
